WISCONSIN – The Wisconsin Democracy Campaign Board of Directors is excited to announce that Nicholas (Nick) Ramos will become the organization’s next Executive Director, effective August 21, 2023.
Nick comes to Wisconsin Democracy Campaign with a wide range of relevant experience and expertise in voting administration, state elections, and community outreach. Most recently, he served as Voter ID Coalition Coordinator at VoteRiders, a non-partisan organization that works to ensure that all eligible voters have access to photo ID in order to cast their ballot and have it count. At VoteRiders, he built and maintained partnerships with over 70 organizations across Wisconsin, developed Voter ID Clinics to assist Wisconsinites with IDs, birth certificates, and social security cards, and created a statewide provisional voter follow up program to help Wisconsin voters cure their ballots. Prior to his time with VoteRiders, he also served as Community Outreach Liaison for the City of Milwaukee Mayor’s Office and as a Voter Protection Fellow for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. He holds a J.D. from Marquette University Law School and is a proud member of the State Bar of Wisconsin.
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign as the first Black and Hispanic individual to run this prestigious organization,” said Nick. “As the next Executive Director, I’m ready to build upon the amazing work the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign has already accomplished and develop innovative ways to expand its reach even further.”
“I’ve witnessed firsthand the endless spending from corporations and large scale donors to influence and tip the scales of our elections here in Wisconsin,” Nick continued. “The people of Wisconsin deserve to have their voices heard and not drowned out by whomever has the deepest pockets. We will fight like hell to make sure that Wisconsinites are not silenced.”
WDC Board President Bill Franks said “We are thrilled to welcome Nick as the new Executive Director of the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. As ED, Nick will champion the critical work of WDC, fighting for fair elections, judicial integrity, media democracy, and open and transparent government. We are confident that he will build the organization’s strength and financial viability, while cultivating strong partnerships and developing initiatives to continue and expand WDC’s long history of effective advocacy.”
