The Wisconsin Personal Services Association thanks Governor Evers for once again investing in personal care and other direct care initiatives in his 2023-25 state budget. The proposed $88.7 million increase builds on the strong, bipartisan work the Governor, Department of Health Services and the Legislature have done over the past three biennial budgets to address Wisconsin’s direct care workforce crisis.

“Governor Evers’ planned investments in personal care are welcome news to the frontline caregivers who hold our long-term care system together and, more importantly, the individuals who needs these services to live independently,” said WPSA President Linda Bova.

The funding proposed by Governor Evers will help contribute to higher pay for personal care workers by building on the Medicaid personal care reimbursement rate increases included in past state budgets and taking steps to ensure that Family Care rates reflect the true cost of providing
care.

“WPSA looks forward to working with the Legislature and Governor throughout the state budget process to ensure access to cost-effective, in-home caregiving services,” said Bova.
