MADISON, WI – Senate Democratic Leader Melissa Agard released the following statement.

“The people have spoken and have chosen to turn the page of our broken politics. They have rejected extremism and have voted for a new day in Wisconsin. While I had hoped to be welcoming Jodi as the newest member of our caucus this morning, I am reminded about the monumental odds that she came so close to overcoming and am so impressed by her grit and determination. Something tells me that we haven’t seen the last of Jodi Habush Sinykin and that’s a huge win for our caucus and the hardworking people of Wisconsin.

As a new day dawns, Senate Democrats are ready. We’re ready to begin the hard work of preparing ourselves for a 2024 cycle where fair maps could be a reality. We’re ready to continue to check the Republican extremism that this state so soundly rejected last night. And we’re ready to give Wisconsinites a choice – between a legislature that puts people over politics or more of the same, tired gamesmanship. Our work is only beginning, but our resolve, commitment, and determination for the people of Wisconsin is stronger than ever before. Let’s flip some seats.”
