MADISON, Wis. — Yesterday, after NRSC Chairman Senator Steve Daines announced Eric Hovde (R–Laguna Beach) will run for Senate against Tammy Baldwin, Wisconsin right wing radio host Vicki McKenna bashed national Republican Senate recruitment efforts and McConnell-backed, self-funding candidates like Hovde. Instead, McKenna wants to see someone who can “fight like hell” and “win” like former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke.
Listen to McKenna blast McConnell and self-funders like Hovde while backing David Clarke

McKenna: We don’t require that of them either, the RNC doesn’t draft candidates that are fighters.
You know, state parties don’t draft candidates that are fighters.
And we know that that’s true for Senate races, because what we heard was that Mitch McConnell wasn’t gonna pursue anybody who couldn’t self-fund!
So what if you’re someone like David Clarke who can’t self-fund, but he can fight like hell?! And he’s a good fighter! And he could WIN!
But unless you raise money for him, you know it’s not something that’s gonna be easy for anyone to do.
And McConnell says if you can’t self-fund, we’re not gonna back you!
So that’s where we are.
Guest: Exactly!
McKenna: And it’s really frustrating as the country slides closer and closer toward the cliff.
