MADISON, Wis. — On the heels of news that Senate Republicans are “beginning to worry” about messy primaries, Wisconsin’s Republican primary is getting “chippy.” Check out the latest below:

  • Conspiracy theorist and disgraced former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke attacked fellow-potential GOP Senate candidate Mike Gallagher for not being supportive of President Trump’s efforts to declare a national emergency at the southern border.

  • Congressman Tom Tiffany bought several domains in preparation for a possible Senate run. Wisconsin GOP kingmaker Dick Uihlein donated $5,800 to Tiffany last month, possibly a sign of support for his latent senate campaign.

  • Private jet enthusiast Scott Mayer admitted to WisPolitics last week that he was in Washington, DC meeting with consultants on a potential Senate run.

“From election-denying Tom Tiffany gearing up to run for Senate, to far-right David Clarke attacking Mike Gallagher for being soft on immigration, to another out-of-touch candidate meeting with national Republicans, we’re looking at another classic brutal primary fight from Wisconsin Republicans,” said Arik Wolk, Rapid Response Director for the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. “I wonder if they’ll ever figure this whole nomination thing out.”
