MADISON, Wis. — After the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) spent this past summer feuding back and forth with leading potential Wisconsin GOP Senate candidate David Clarke, who thinks they “abhor winning,” they are now feuding with a new likely Senate candidate, Scott Mayer.

The new Mayer v. NRSC fight comes after the NRSC announced their support for California bank owner Eric Hovde (R–Laguna Beach).

Last week, NRSC Chairman Senator Steve Daines told Mayer to sit out the election. Mayer responded with a shrug emoji before taking a shot at the NRSC, saying that they don’t decide the election, the people of Wisconsin do, then saying that he’s become a “dangerous” candidate.

“As 2 megamillionaires and a MAGA Sheriff prepare to run for Senate next year, Republicans are getting their first glimpses of what will be yet another nasty Senate primary in Wisconsin, where the GOP candidates once again try to out-MAGA each other,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Rapid Response Director Arik Wolk. “Meanwhile, Mitch McConnell’s hand-picked candidate Eric Hovde (R–Laguna Beach) and Scott Mayer are preparing to spend tens of millions of dollars attacking each other in the primary, leaving the eventual winner even more out of touch with Wisconsin values.”
