Madison, WI. – Women Win Wisconsin and Green Bay OBGYN Dr. Kristin Lyerly released the following statement on today’s Supreme Court of the United States decision that allows continued access to a critical abortion drug, mifepristone.
“Mifepristone will continue to be a FDA approved medication as this issue works its way through the courts. To be clear, this medication is safe, effective, and available.
“While today’s decision is what we had hoped for, this is a case that should have never even made it to the court system. If the Supreme Court had ruled differently, the far reaching impacts could have been disastrous for people seeking and providing health care as well as the FDA itself.
“These attacks from the far right against our reproductive freedoms will not stop, and we cannot let our guard down. For every baseless argument we think we have defeated, sadly more will come. Together we will keep fighting at the grassroots level as we continue to advocate for our rights.”
