MADISON – This week, in honor of Earth Week, Senator Melissa Agard is proud to highlight her strong support within the environmental community for her campaign to become the next Dane County Executive. Agard released the following statement:

“Earth Day is a critical part of Wisconsin’s history, and we should all strive to be a part of carrying on Gaylord Nelson’s legacy of prioritizing environmental protections in our public policy decisions. When I am Dane County Executive, I will work tirelessly to live up to this history and champion efforts to preserve our public lands and protect our clean air and water.

“Kathleen Falk and Joe Parisi set the standard for innovative land and clean water protections. I am honored to have earned their endorsement and I am committed to making my tenure as County Executive similarly focused on forward looking solutions to keep Dane County at the forefront of environmental policies.

“From growing up swimming in our lakes and doing local clean up days to my track record in the community, on the Dane County Board, and in the State Legislature show ways in which our government can promote clean air and water. On the County Board I was on the Parks Commission and as a State Senator I authored the CLEAR Act, the most comprehensive legislation related to PFAS in the entire nation.

“Recently, I hosted a roundtable with local environmental leaders. I am proud to have their support and humbled to take in their expertise. Strong partnerships lead to strong results and I will be a County Executive who utilizes the thoughts of our community to help protect our natural spaces for generations to come.”
