MADISON, WI – Earlier this week, the City of Madison and the University of Wisconsin-
Madison released the Student Housing Market and Affordability Analysis. Alder Govindarajan
was a leading member of this group, and released the following statement:
“We now know exactly what causes local housing market trends, the type of units the city needs
to focus on building, and how to better educate students on what currently exists” said
Govindarajan. “Students consistently expressed not knowing enough about the housing market in
both study groups and surveys, it falls on the University and City to provide the resources and
educate our community.”
“The study released today provides us concrete data and is a monumental step forward in
addressing the student housing crisis” he added.
