U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, is out with a new TV ad knocking GOP rival Eric Hovde over his comment that women spend too much time focused on what’s going on in Hollywood.
According to AdImpact, Baldwin has nearly $11.4 million in ad reservations between the primary and general election. In all, the Madison Dem and those backing her have $39.4 million in reservations compared to $13.2 million by Hovde and the groups supporting him.
The spot features a series of women talking about how their days are packed with client meetings, patient rounds and getting kids out the door. One says Hovde believes “all women care about is Hollywood” as she holds up a celebrity magazine.
The spot then plays a clip of Hovde saying in an interview, “It’s just deplorable. Sadly, with, you know, females, they spend too much time focused on what’s going on in Hollywood.”
The women in the ad say they know Hovde supported overturning Roe v. Wade and would vote for a national abortion ban.
One says, “Eric Hovde must think he knows better than us.” Another closes the spot, “What is wrong with this guy?”
