MADISON, Wisconsin, October 1, 2024— The video “Our Past Can Shape Our Future,” produced by Clean Lakes Alliance and Ho-Chunk Nation, proudly brings five Telly awards home to Madison. Clean Lakes Alliance and the Ho-Chunk Nation’s collaborative video was recognized for its portrayal of the rich history of the Yahara Watershed. Water has long defined this special place and has been treated as sacred by its Indigenous caretakers for thousands of years. This region, known as Teejop to the Ho-Chunk people, has been their ancestral homeland for generations. By honoring this history and emphasizing the importance of a sustainable watershed, the organizations together aim to redefine our community’s relationship with these vital lands and waters. Clean Lakes Alliance is pleased to have established a formal partnership with the Ho-Chunk Nation through an official proclamation. The partnership promotes community education and fosters a passion for preserving the lakes for future generations.

A formal awards ceremony and press event will take place on Tuesday, October 1st, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at The Edgewater Hotel in the Red Crown Club. Press are invited to attend and interviews are welcome with James Tye, Executive Director of Clean Lakes Alliance and Jon Greendeer, President of the Ho-Chunk Nation.
