MADISON — The Committee to Protect Health Care today announced a $500,000 paid media campaign, targeting 12 districts and communicating to 300,000+ Wisconsin voters, to support pro-health care candidates for the Wisconsin Legislature. The campaign will spend significant resources targeting the following districts: Jessie Rodriguez (AD-21), Shannon Zimmerman (AD-30), Clint Moses (AD-92), and Joan Ballweg (SD-14).
In addition to the announcement of the advertising campaign, the Committee also announced their full slate of endorsements for the Wisconsin Legislature. Endorsed candidates were selected based on their positions on critical health care issues, including those such as:
- Supporting BadgerCare Expansion
- Supporting extending Medicaid postpartum coverage to 12 months
- Supporting the establishment of a Prescription Drug Affordability Board to reduce the cost of prescription drugs in the state
- Supporting efforts to implement a Paid Family and Medical Leave program
- Ensuring decisions made about reproductive health care remain between patients and their medical providers, including guaranteeing contraception access and repealing the state’s 1849 abortion ban.
“For too long, our state legislators have refused to expand BadgerCare and repeal our state’s archaic, harmful abortion ban,” said Dr. Ann Helms, a neurologist in Milwaukee and the Wisconsin State Lead for the Committee to Protect Health Care. “These candidates have an opportunity to finally take action, granting health care access to tens of thousands of Wisconsinites and ensuring all women in the state can access the reproductive health care they need. We look forward to championing these issues with them as well as lowering prescription drug costs and ensuring Wisconsin families can take the time they need to care for themselves and each other without losing their needed income.”
“Wisconsin voters deserve to know who is fighting to make Wisconsinites healthier by lowering costs, expanding access, and removing barriers to care,” said Miles Baker, Chief of Staff for the Committee to Protect Health Care. “With our significant independent investment, the Committee to Protect Health Care – Wisconsin PAC will reach targeted voters in the most important races in the state from Milwaukee to Superior–health care advocates are doing our part to end to Robin Vos’ iron grip on on the Wisconsin Assembly and the cruel health care policies that come with it.”
