(Mount Pleasant, WI) – After a year of legal battles, Kelly Gallaher had her lawsuit thrown out in  a summary judgment decisioned by Judge Faye Flancher, Wednesday afternoon. Ms. Gallaher sued David  DeGroot and his campaign supporter Sam Wahlen on the eve of election night. Throughout the campaign,  she had claimed that the statements made by the DeGroot campaign were malicious lies. However, it was  clear that Ms. Gallaher’s lawsuit was nothing more than a political stunt. Despite her rhetoric, the voters  saw through it and voted for David DeGroot instead by a significant margin.

On Wednesday, the Judge saw through it too.

Although Kelly Gallaher did not attend the hearing, where the Judge spent 1 ½ hours going argument  by argument why Ms. Gallaher was wrong to claim defamation, the least of which was because everything  that was stated was either factually or substantially true. For example. it was ruled that these statements  were, at a minimum, substantially true:

 “My opponent may not pay her property taxes, but I do and I understand the burden faced by our  residents.”

 “Ms. Gallaher, who was a partner on the Senior Campus at Campbell Woods development, will receive  a check thanks to Mount Pleasant taxpayers after her business was scheduled for a Sheriff sale on March  13th because their financial institution foreclosed on them due to numerous missed loan payments and  in addition owed $70,000 in back taxes.”

 “Fact: my opponent’s business was foreclosed on by the bank last month and owes $70k in property  taxes.”

 “At Monday’s Village Board meeting, it came to the public’s attention that Village President candidate  Kelly Gallaher has not only failed to pay her business’s property taxes for the last three years, but is  now getting bailed out from Mount Pleasant taxpayers. Ms.

 “Failed business owner”

… And so many more.

It was also noted at Wednesday’s hearing that the statement that Ms. Gallaher, at the time, was being  investigated for campaign finance violations was both true and undisputed. It would be announced after the  election by the Wisconsin Ethics Commission that she had violated campaign finance regulations.

Mr. Sam Wahlen’s lawsuit against Kelly Gallaher for attacking and harassing him at his place of  employment is still ongoing.

“I’m not surprised that the judge found every point in our favor. Ms. Gallaher is a master crybully who has  demonstrated that she can dish it out daily for 10 years, but when the tables are turned on her, she can’t  take it for a minute. With her attitude, she has not only lost at the ballot box, but multiple times in the courts  as well. For the sake of her own mental health, I suggest she finds another hobby.”– David DeGroot
