MADISON, Wis. — Today, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler announced Sarah Abel as Executive Director. During the 2024 cycle, Abel served as the Democratic Party of Wisconsin’s Deputy Executive Director.
Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler issued the following statement.
“The Democratic Party of Wisconsin is thrilled to announce Sarah Abel as our next Executive Director. Sarah has driven remarkable results in her current capacity as our Deputy Executive Director, helping reelect Senator Tammy Baldwin and make historic gains in the State Legislature. While overseeing multiple core departments at the party, she also played a key role in developing WisDems’s plans for the spring Supreme Court and other elections less than five months away, and is fully prepared to hit the ground running.
“A fifth-generation Wisconsinite, Sarah served as Wisconsin Congressman Ron Kind’s campaign manager in 2020, when Rep. Kind was one of only seven Democrats in the country to win a district carried by Donald Trump. She has also served in key roles at national organizations, other battleground state parties, and legislative caucuses.
“We’re grateful to our outgoing Executive Director Cassi Fenili for all of her extraordinary work this cycle, and wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors. Thanks to Cassi’s leadership, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin remains in a strong position to continue our year-round work to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.
“WisDems has built a tradition of excellence, inclusivity and relentless organizing that has powered our party to victory in 16 of the last 20 statewide races. We look forward to the next wave of victories with Sarah Abel serving as our executive director.”
