The Wisconsin Department of Revenue announced Mark Meyer has been selected to serve as the Administrator for the newly created Division of Alcohol Beverages. The creation of the new division was one of many changes to the regulation of alcohol beverages under 2023 Wisconsin Act 73.

“This Division of Alcohol Beverages was created last session by bipartisan omnibus legislation.   I am excited about the prospect of working with stakeholders and staff to implement this legislation within the Department of Revenue and make this a win for the people of Wisconsin,” said Meyer.

Meyer has over 25 years’ experience working in government at the federal, state, and local levels and is well versed in regulatory and legislative processes. Most recently, he served as principal consultant for Meyer Consulting, LLC. Prior to that, Meyer spent more than six years on the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin and served in the Wisconsin State Legislature from 1993–2004, representing the 95th Assembly District (1993–2000) and the 32nd Senate District (2001–2004). He has extensive experience working with stakeholder groups to achieve compromise and define areas of consensus and has been directly involved with real-time agency crisis management and responses. As a member of the legislature, Meyer has direct experience and familiarity with the State Budget process and the Administrative Rules process.

Meyer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
