Today in Madison, ahead of Vice President Kamala Harris’ debate against Donald Trump, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler joined a Wisconsin farmer and a small business owner to highlight the threat that Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda poses to our economy, our fundamental freedoms and our democracy.

At the press conference, speakers warned Wisconsinites that Donald Trump and JD Vance’s Project 2025 agenda would give Trump virtually unchecked power to rule as a dictator on “day one,” raise costs for middle-class families, and give out massive tax cuts to his billionaire friends and big corporations.

“Wisconsin cannot afford another Trump presidency. Wisconsin families cannot afford a $4,000 Trump tax. Wisconsin can’t afford a Project 2025 scheme to rig our economy for the already ultra-rich at the expense of working families. Wisconsin knows how devastating another Trump presidency would be, and that’s why we are not going back,” said Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler. “We’re going to show this country and ourselves what we’ve got in the state of Wisconsin, a belief in freedom, a belief in democracy and decency, a belief in an economy that works for working people, where everyone can not just get by, but get ahead.”

“I understand what it means to put your heart and soul into something, to cobble things together to make a living for my family. I know how important food stamps and paid family leave are to so many Wisconsin families who are struggling to overcome the same barriers. I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she understands those struggles too. Unlike Donald Trump, whose Project 2025 agenda will devastate small businesses like mine, Vice President Harris is on the side of the people,” said Corrine Hendrickson, owner of Corrine’s Little Explorers.

“Donald Trump will never understand what it is like to be a small business owner. He will always side with big corporations and the wealthy executives that donate to his campaign, not regular folks like us.”

“Tomorrow on the debate stage, we will see two very different economic visions for the future of this country. Vice President Kamala Harris wants to build up the middle class by supporting small businesses like mine. On the other hand, Donald Trump only cares about billionaires and big corporations,” said Sarah Lloyd, Wisconsin farmer.

“That’s why I’m super excited and very proud to vote for Vice President Harris and Governor Tim Walz this November. They are the only two candidates in this race who I know are on the side of small business owners like me. This November, we’ll defeat Trump and his Project 2025 agenda once and for all.”
