This weekend, the Harris-Walz campaign and the Democratic coordinated campaign in Wisconsin hosted a Weekend of Action to engage Black men, whose support and turnout will be critical to Vice President Harris’ victory in November, and highlight how Donald Trump’s Project 2025 would roll back key rights and freedoms, hurt the middle class, undo health care protections, and give tax cuts to the wealthy.

Actor Wendell Pierce of The Wire and Suits appeared at multiple events in Milwaukee on Saturday and Sunday, including a barbershop event with a haircut giveaway, a Black men’s canvass launch, a Black young professionals happy hour and networking event, and a Gospel brunch.

While Trump and his MAGA allies have made no effort to reach Black voters, Vice President Harris, the Harris-Walz campaign, and the Wisconsin Democratic coordinated campaign have delivered and will continue to reach out to the Black community in Milwaukee. Under the Biden-Harris administration, Black wealth has gone up 60% since before the pandemic, Black small businesses have started up at the fastest rate in 30 years, and HBCUs have seen $16 billion in investments.

As president, Vice President Harris will cut taxes for the middle class, bring down food prices by banning corporate price gouging on groceries, lower housing costs by building three million new housing units over four years, and continue lowering prescription drug costs.

“As the campaign was asking me where I wanted to campaign, I specifically asked to come to Milwaukee… I thought back on how we lost the election in 2016 by 20,000 votes in Wisconsin, just 20,000 votes. We have 20,000 people in these 3 blocks. I realized this community will decide who the next president of the United States will be,” said actor Wendell Pierce today. “Trump and the GOP have no intention of [promoting economic opportunity] with our community. We have it within our power, within this community of Milwaukee, to put someone in office that will create the economic engine that will bring our communities back!”

Wendell Pierce, Ald. Sharlen Moore, barber shop owner Gaulien “Gee” Smith, and community member Kwabena Nixon host a panel where they take questions from the audience.
