On Sunday in Milwaukee, Representative Jasmine Crockett (TX-30) and Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson mobilized Black voters at a Divine Nine canvass launch, outlining the high stakes of this election for Black voters across Wisconsin. Rep. Crockett highlighted how Vice President Harris’ vision for an opportunity economy will benefit all Americans by lowering costs for middle-class Wisconsin families and extending the $35 cap on insulin and $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for seniors to all Americans. Meanwhile Trump’s Project 2025 agenda would bring a Trump “sales tax” that would increase costs for hardworking Wisconsinites by nearly $4,000 a year and put critical programs such as Medicare and Medicaid, Social Security, and the Affordable Care Act – programs that many Black Americans rely on – on the chopping block.

Congresswoman Crockett emphasized the Harris-Walz campaign and WisDems’ commitment to meeting voters where they are at through relational organizing, because this election will be won “on the margins.”

WKOW (ABC – Madison):

Reporter: “Black voters across key swing states like Wisconsin will play a critical role in bolstering the margin of victory in this year’s presidential race. Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett was in Milwaukee on Sunday campaigning for Vice President Kamala Harris, an area with the largest population of Black voters in the state.”

Representative Jasmine Crockett: “Telling these real stories about how close these elections are, and how your vote really does matter. It’s important to tell those stories.”

Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson: “The more African Americans we get up and get out to exercise their vote… that can tip the balance of elections one way or another.”
