Yesterday, in Menomonie and Eau Claire, U.S. Senator Tina Smith (D-MN) spoke with local leaders and volunteers as part of the Harris-Walz campaign’s New Way Forward battleground tour. With 50 days until the election, Senator Smith spent the day mobilizing support from the voters who will decide this election.

Senator Smith kicked off canvass launches in Menomonie and Eau Claire, visited local small businesses, and stopped by a Packers watch party to underscore the contrast between Vice President Harris, Governor Walz, and Democrat’s vision for a brighter, more hopeful future versus Donald Trump and JD Vance’s Project 2025 agenda that will take us backwards.

“The path to victory for Democrats runs right through Wisconsin and western Wisconsin, so it’s exciting to see how these candidates are doing so well with Democratic voters, but also independents and Republicans who are ready to turn the page and want to see us moving forward,” said Senator Tina Smith. “These are swing counties, these are places where voters could go either way, so the decisions that voters make in this part of Wisconsin will make all the difference for who controls the United States Senate, who controls the State Assembly, and who is in the White House. It’s great to be here talking to people. I want people to understand that their votes are really powerful, that they have real say in the direction of Wisconsin and this country.”

“Young voters are paying a lot of attention, in my experience, to basic economic issues. They’re trying to figure out how to afford their lives,” said Senator Tina Smith. “So that’s why proposals that Vice President Harris has put out about making rent more affordable, helping people realize the dream of home ownership, are so important.”
