The latest TV ad from GOP U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde’s campaign features his wife telling U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, her “dirty campaign has gone too far” with an ad knocking her husband over comments about single parents.
The spot is part of a $2 million buy that Hovde’s campaign announced yesterday.
It’s in response to an ad Baldwin began last week that features people saying Hovde believes if you have a single mom, “you’re going to be poor or a drug addict.” The ad plays a clip of Hovde in an interview saying, “That is a direct path to a life of poverty… it leads to higher drug rates.”
Sharon Hovde speaks directly to the camera in the ad, saying she was a single mom when she met Hovde, and he saw the difficulty she faced trying to afford child care. Sharon Hovde adds it inspired him to help single mothers in Wisconsin.
“Your whole campaign has been about lies and personal attacks,” Sharon Hovde says to close the ad. “The people of Wisconsin deserve better. It’s time for change.”
