Endorsements include state legislative candidates in Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and New Hampshire
Washington, D.C. — Today, the National Democratic Redistricting Committee (NDRC) announced its third round of endorsements as part of its Democracy Defenders program, a campaign to support candidates running for state-level offices that are essential to protecting and strengthening democracy around the country. This round of endorsements are in support of Democratic candidates running for the following state legislative chambers:
- Georgia House of Representatives
- Michigan House of Representatives
- Minnesota House of Representatives
- Wisconsin State Assembly and Wisconsin State Senate
- New Hampshire House of Representatives and New Hampshire State Senate
“With state governments increasingly responsible for protecting fundamental freedoms, the results of these legislative races will determine whether rights are protected in more places,” said Eric H. Holder, Jr., the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and Chairman of the NDRC. “MAGA Republicans in each of these legislatures have embraced anti-democracy agendas that impose unpopular policies onto the people, such as voter suppression measures, abortion bans, restricting health care access, and preventing the passage of gun safety laws. In stark contrast, Democrats in these legislatures have pursued common sense policies that are supported by the majority of the people, such as expanding access to affordable health care, protecting voting and reproductive rights, and pursuing gun safety measures.
“The contrast between how the parties govern when in power could not be more stark, and the choice is clear,” Holder continued. “The people of New Hampshire, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Georgia deserve state legislatures that are led by people committed to pursuing popular, common sense measures that improve their lives—not extreme partisans bent on imposing minority rule.
“I’m proud to support the Democracy Defenders in all of these states, who are pursuing pro-democracy, pro-voting rights, and pro-freedom agendas. With freedom and democracy on the line, the people must make their voices heard and elect these Democracy Defenders to office this November,” Holder concluded.
