The NRSC and Hovde released a series of new spots, including one that features two people saying Joe Biden and Kamala Harris “created this mess” and “Tammy Baldwin has been right there with them.”

According to AdImpact, the first ad in the series began running in Wisconsin today and is part of a $1.6 million joint buy.

The tactic allows the National Republican Senatorial Committee to get the cheaper rates offered to candidates compared to independent groups. But the spots have to support both a candidate and a political party. The NRSC has used the tactic in other states to offset the spending advantage Dems have in the top contests.

In the four weeks that started with Wisconsin’s Aug. 13 primary, spending in the U.S. Senate race had been fairly even, according to AdImpact. Hovde and his allies spent $13.2 million through Monday, while U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, and her backers spent $12.6 million.

But from yesterday through the Nov. 5 election, Baldwin and her allies have $33 million reserved, compared to $5.9 million by Hovde and his backers, according to the latest update from AdImpact late this afternoon.

In one of the new NRSC/Hovde ads, a couple sits on a couch saying Dems claim everything is great, but when “you’re on a fixed income, struggling to pay for gas, groceries or medicine, it doesn’t feel great.” They charge that during her 25 years in Washington, Baldwin “raised taxes, added trillions in new debt and gave stimulus checks to illegals.”

One of the spots features a woman who says Dems assume she’ll vote for them because she’s Black. Like in the other spots, she says Biden, Harris and Dems have been a disaster while saying Baldwin has done “nothing” during 25 years in Washington and declaring, “I’m done with the Democrats. It’s time for change.”
