WISCONSIN – Police Leaders for Community Safety, a national nonpartisan organization of law enforcement leaders, today announced its endorsement of Tammy Baldwin for reelection to the U.S. Senate. This endorsement reflects Senator Baldwin’s commitment to public safety, law enforcement, and upholding the rule of law.

“Senator Tammy Baldwin stands out as a strong advocate for the safety of our communities,” said Sue Riseling, Chair of Police Leaders for Community Safety, who served as Chief at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. “Her support for policies that enhance policing, address violent crime and promote community safety aligns with our mission of fostering secure environments for all Americans.”

“As police leaders who have led law enforcement agencies and the major national law enforcement leadership groups, we know what it will take to make our communities safer,” said Dave Mahoney, former Dane County Sheriff and Board member of Police Leaders for Community Safety. “That includes having Senators like Tammy Baldwin who stand with law enforcement and press for policies that protect our communities,” he added.

Police Leaders for Community Safety’s endorsements of candidates are based on their support for policies critical to community safety, law enforcement and the rule of law; endorsements are not based on party affiliation. It is the only only national police leadership organization that endorses candidates for political office.

“Public safety is not a partisan issue; it is a fundamental human right that affects every American,” added Board Vice Chair Rick Myers, who has been a police chief in eight communities in multiple states, including Wisconsin. “We proudly support candidates like Tammy Baldwin who recognize the importance of these issues and who will work to make us all safer.”
