MADISON, Wis. – Representative Kalan Haywood (D-Milwaukee) was elected to a fourth term representing the 16th State Assembly District, which includes parts of downtown and central north side of Milwaukee. In response, Rep. Haywood released the following statement:

“I am filled with deep gratitude as my community has chosen me to be their voice in the State Assembly for a fourth time.  It is the honor of a lifetime to serve in this prestigious body, and I will continue to fight to improve the lives of people of the City of Milwaukee and across the state. Thank you to my family, friends, colleagues and supporters for helping me on this journey. I would also like to congratulate current colleagues and incoming elects on their victories and thank them for all their hard work. Their dedication has completely changed the Assembly Democrat Caucus for the better with ten more voices to contribute and collaborate on the important work in front of us.  As we head into the next legislative session, I am optimistic that we can find new ways forward and continue to make Wisconsin a great place to live, learn, and flourish.”

Rep. Haywood was first elected in 2018 as one of the youngest elected officials ever in the history of the country. He served as the Assembly Democrat Sergeant-at-Arms in the 2020-21 session, and as the Assembly Democratic Assistant Leader since 2022. He currently serves on the Assembly Committees on Assembly Organization, Energy and Utilities, Rules, Transportation, and serves as the ranking member on the Committee on Housing and Real Estate.
