MADISON – Today, Rep. Jacobson, Rep. McGuire, Sen. Agard, and Sen. Johnson introduced legislation, LRB 5915/1, seeking to disclose and create labeling requirements regarding certain ingredients in menstrual products. This bill has been introduced in response to recent reports which found that several menstrual products contain a variety of chemicals that are linked to cancer, hormone disruption, unnecessary allergic reactions, as well as reproductive and developmental problems.

“People deserve to know what is going into their bodies, it is as simple as that,” said Rep. Jenna Jacobson. “This bill will help protect women’s health by giving them the power to know what chemicals are in their menstrual products,”said Rep. Jacobson.

“It is a consumer’s right to know how products will be impacting their body and health,” said Rep. McGuire. “With the possibility of harmful chemicals like PFAS being contained in some menstrual products, there is no reason a consumer should unknowingly put that chemical in their body,” said Rep. McGuire.
