Sun Prairie – Lisa Rubrich announced her bid to represent the newly drawn 48th Assembly District today. Rubrich is a local healthcare professional, mother, and wife who has called the Town of Burke home for the last 21 years. She also has experience in local government, recently being elected to her second term as a Burke Town Supervisor and serving on the Town’s Extra Territorial Zoning Committee and Chair of the Parks Committee.

“As a long-time resident of the area and local elected official, I know how our communities operate and the challenges we face to provide services to residents while also being good stewards of our tax dollars,” said Rubrich. “We need to send a leader to the State Capitol who understands how to get things done, not play partisan politics. I want to represent you and continue to make Wisconsin a great place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Rubrich has worked in healthcare as an Orthotist for 34 years, helping her disabled and injured patients gain mobility, function and relief from pain. She also serves on the board for Wisconsin Society of Orthotists, Prosthetists and Pedorthics (WSOPP).

“I have witnessed the importance of healthcare access for our most vulnerable populations. Some babies may need a brace to learn to walk. Patients have to navigate complicated systems to gain back lost function. Injured people must fight for tools that help provide pain relief. I am there to help provide compassionate guidance and solutions to make activities of daily living attainable,” said Rubrich. “I want to take that experience to Madison, because I know how important access to affordable healthcare is for families. We need to work to help make healthcare costs affordable for Wisconsinites while increasing access to quality healthcare.”

With the reconfiguration in district boundaries, voters have the opportunity to elect individuals like Lisa who are focused on tackling the real issues:

  • Safe Communities: Support local law enforcement efforts to maintain peaceful communities, crack down on retail theft, and hold criminals accountable.
  • Cost of Living: Rents are out-of-control and finding an affordable home is impossible for most middle-class families. Building affordable, workforce housing is a top priority.
  • Education: Empower parents, reward good teachers, and ensure every child has access to a quality education. To allow them to reach their full potential, our children should learn the basics in school: reading, writing, arithmetic, science, financial literacy, arts, and history.
  • Taxes: Hold the line on taxes and bring relief to middle-class families and small businesses.

The 48th Assembly District includes the City/Town of Sun Prairie, a small part of Madison’s east side near East Town Mall, and extends into the Towns of Burke, Bristol and York in Dane County, as well as Portland and Elba in Dodge County. For more information, see www.lisarubrichforassembly.com.
