Madison – Today, Governor Evers signed into law several bills authored by Senator Jesse James (R- Altoona) that will work to protect Wisconsin’s vulnerable, including children and victims of crime.

The passed legislation includes measures to allow child victims of human trafficking to testify in private for their safety and mental health, $10 million in funding for crime victim services, and the Kelsey Smith Act, which gives law enforcement greater access to the cell phone locations of individuals in immediate danger.

“It is an honor to improve our state law to shield our victims,” said Senator James. “We are grateful today to be able to increase resources and protections for those who have been through these extremely traumatizing scenarios.”

Also included in the signed bills is new legislation to prohibit computer-generated and AI child porn, as well as restrictions banning the manufacturing and possession of child sex dolls resembling or depicting a minor.

“Protecting our kids is one of my highest priorities. As technology increases access and availability to new forms of abuse for pedophiles, we have to adjust our laws. We will always take a stand against those looking to prey upon our children,” concluded James.
