WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congressman Derrick Van Orden voted to pass the Social Security Fairness Act, a widely bipartisan bill that overturns a harmful restriction of Social Security that prevented seniors with pensions from receiving their full retirement benefits. Rep. Van Orden is a cosponsor of the Social Security Fairness Act and joined the discharge petition that urged House leadership to move the bill to the floor for a vote. Following his vote, Rep. Van Orden released the following statement:

“I take my commitment to our seniors seriously. These folks built our nation, and they deserve to retire with dignity and receive the benefits they earned. Voting to pass the Social Security Fairness Act was a no-brainer. America’s senior citizens dedicated years of hard work, and with this bill, we are ensuring they get the full benefits they deserve for their contributions to our nation.”
