Green Bay, Wis. – In a ceremony Friday afternoon, Universities of Wisconsin Regent Angela Adams and President Jay Rothman, along with UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander presented Camera Corner Connecting Point (CCCP) with the Regents Business Partnership Award. The award was presented to the locally owned technology solutions business because of its support and collaboration with the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay.

Both Regent Adams and President Rothman shared the importance of community support and partnership between the regional business and UW-Green Bay. “We hear this all the time,” said Regent Adams, “how critical our students and graduates are to the success of some of Wisconsin’s most significant businesses.”  Chancellor Alexander stressed the importance of the Camera Corner Connecting Point partnership for students, the community and the whole state. “Rick [Chernick] and the employees at Camera Corner represent the best of this community and have supported the region in countless ways,” said Alexander. “We are extremely grateful for their commitment and dedication to the success of the region.”

Camera Corner Connecting Point CEO, Rick Chernick,’74, a UW-Green Bay alumnus, accepted the award. He shared his time at UW-Green Bay was a mix between working 40-50 hours a week at his father’s camera store and taking 18 credits per semester to graduate within four years. “We are honored to receive this award,” said Chernick. “Our company and family are proud of UW-Green Bay and what it represents in our community.”

Camera Corner Connecting Point started as a small camera store in downtown Green Bay in 1953 and has since transformed into a company that focuses on technology solutions for business. With their merger into the ACP CreativIT family of technology solution providers, the business has expanded to include more than 300 employees working in multiple states across the U.S. Rick Chernick is the Owner and CEO of Camera Corner/Connecting Point in Green Bay. Camera Corner Connecting Point are proud supporters and partners with UW-Green Bay and have been since Chernick graduated from the university in 1974. In fall of 2001, Chernick helped establish a scholarship endowment that is funded primarily through gifts from former recipients of the UWGB Distinguished Alumni Award. Currently more than a dozen UW-Green Bay alumni work at the organization and Chernick hopes his grandchildren also attend UWGB, making it a third-generation family tradition.
