“It’s the damn guns,” Gen Z-led group says

WASHINGTON — Voters of Tomorrow, the largest Gen Z-led voter outreach organization in the country, today issued the following response to the shooting at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, WI.

Statement from Santiago Mayer, executive director of Voters of Tomorrow:

“Today, our hearts break for the Abundant Life Christian School community. We offer our sincerest condolences to the victims, survivors, and their loved ones as they navigate this difficult time. Going to class every day should not be an act of bravery, but that’s the reality for students in America.

“Guns continue to be the leading cause of death for children and teens — so let’s be real. It isn’t video games. It isn’t the internet. It’s the damn guns.

“Instead of mourning, students should be excited for the holidays and the new year. Gen Z deserves better. Our country deserves better. Our elected officials must take action now to protect us, even in a lame duck session.”
