MADISON, WISCONSIN — Wisconsin College Republicans Chair, William (Billy) Blathras, and Vice Chair, Kaden Crapp, announced their resignation from the organization last night to the executive committee of the Wisconsin College Republicans. Both Blathras and Crapp resigned their positions as a result of completion of their undergraduate degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and University of Wisconsin-Platteville, respectively.
Subsequently, the executive committee of the College Republicans voted unanimously for Nicholas Jacobs of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls as the new Chairman of the organization and Andrew Emerson of the University of Wisconsin-Stout as the new Vice Chair. Both Jacobs and Emerson will take their new positions on December 1, 2024 once Blathras and Crapp formally step down.
On his resignation William Blathras stated, “It has been an incredible honor to serve this organization for the past two years as Chair. We have seen rapid growth and revitalization across all our chapters in Wisconsin and used that to the fullest extent in delivering a victory for President Donald Trump here in Wisconsin. Over the course of these past years the Wisconsin College Republicans have turned into one of the most robust and renowned College Republican groups in the nation, working tirelessly in Wisconsin and across the country for President Trump and Republicans across the board. I look forward to seeing Nicholas and Andrew taking this organization to even further heights.”
Vice Chair Kaden Crapp added, “It has been an incredible honor to serve as the WICRs Vice Chair. I’m very proud of the hard work that all of our members put across the state and how much we’ve grown as an organization since Billy took over in early 2023. We did some great work, and now it’s time to pass that on to new leadership. Godspeed to Nicholas and Andrew, I am more than confident that the organization is in good hands.”
The Wisconsin College Republicans played a part in delivering college campus swings up to 23.8% for President Trump this last election and are dedicating themselves to further increasing these margins for the upcoming Supreme Court election in April of 2025 as well as the coming gubernatorial election in 2026.
