MADISON, Wis. — According to the latest state campaign finance reports, the political action committee (PAC) of recently announced right-wing Wisconsin gubernatorial candidate Bill Berrien received $1 million in contributions from the Winklevoss brothers of New York. The right-wing twin brothers made millions in a lawsuit alleging they were the original inventors of what is now Facebook and subsequently set themselves up in the cryptocurrency business.
A Better Wisconsin Together Deputy Director Mike Browne noted Berrien has had a rough roll out, clumsily trying to pass the MAGA loyalty test. “Right out of the gate Berrien says he supports Donald Trump’s tariffs that will raise costs of Wisconsin working families by thousands of dollars a year.” He continued, “And it looks like he’s following that up by mimicking Donald Trump’s corruption.”
The crypto bros’ campaign cash accounts for nearly 90 percent of what Berrien’s PAC raised since its inception. The recently filed state campaign finance reports also show Berrien’s PAC conducted an expensive public opinion poll before announcing his candidacy and has hired multiple out-of-state political consulting firms.
Browne concluded, “Bill Berrien has another thing coming if he thinks selling out to New York crypto bros while supporting Trump’s tariffs that stick it to hardworking Wisconsinites is a recipe for political success. Just ask Elon Musk, the last tech oligarch that tried to buy a Wisconsin election, how that worked out for him and his lackey candidate.”
