Milwaukee, WI – On Monday, Americans for Prosperity (AFP) hosted U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson for a conversation about his plan for budget reconciliation and the path forward on renewing President Trump’s tax cuts before they expire this year.
AFP-WI activist and Milwaukee small business owner Mike Doble asked Speaker Johnson how he plans to “bridge the gap” and extend tax cuts that are vital for small business owners like himself.
Speaker Johnson thanked Doble for his role as an AFP-WI activist and praised the group’s effectiveness across the Badger State. Fox News Contributor, AFP Advisory Council Member, and event moderator Guy Benson highlighted AFP-WI’s involvement in the critical Wisconsin Supreme Court race.

Mike Doble asked Speaker Johnson: “It is super important to us to continue the tax cuts… I know it is important to you as well. But there is some difference in opinions between the House and Senate, and just Republicans even in your House. What is your plan to bridge this gap so we can continue this? We need it. We need to keep hiring and growing or we’re dying. So what is your plan to bridge that gap?”

Speaker Johnson explained how he is working to find equilibrium in the House and extend these tax cuts and added: “We’ll get there. The sooner we do, the better it’s going to be for you and every small business owner, and large company for that matter, around the country. Because that is going to lock in and codify the certainty that you need to be able to do what you do best and that is grow your business and add jobs.”
