MADISON, WI — Today, Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) hand delivered hundreds of public comment petitions to the Evers/Rodriguez administration from farmers and families across Southwest Wisconsin opposing their outrageous agricultural fee increases.
AFP Grassroots Engagement Director Nicole Tyc was joined by farmers and community members to bring their voices directly to the Capitol, following a rally Monday night in Platteville that drew a strong turnout of concerned Wisconsinites.
Earlier this year, the Wisconsin Supreme Court granted unelected bureaucrats in Madison the power to propose and adopt rules and regulations with very little legislative oversight.
Now, with that new authority, the Evers/Rodriguez administration is working to adopt a new fee schedule that would raise costs on farmers in some cases by more than 1000%. For example:
- Class A Animal Market: $420 → $7,400
- Animal Dealers: $220 → $670
- State Animal Trucker License: $60 → $370
AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak released the following statement:
“While Wisconsin’s farmers are currently hard at work in the field to support their families and feed America, Governor Evers and Lieutenant Governor Rodriguez are using their administration to raise agriculture fees. Our rural and agricultural communities deserve better. These fee increases are yet another example of the Administration’s top-down approach that puts a burden on our neighbors, friends, and families. AFP-WI will continue to hold the Evers/Rodriguez Administration accountable to protect Wisconsin’s economy and the livelihoods of our hardest-working citizens.”
