WASHINGTON D.C. — Today, America’s Voice launched a new rapid response campaign called “At What Cost” to bring home to key congressional districts the catastrophic costs associated with President Trump’s dangerous, cruel and chaotic indiscriminate mass deportation and family separation plans. In addition to a digital ad buy, America’s Voice will engage partners and mobilize a grassroots network to put pressure on Members of Congress to reject these proposals.
The campaign will bring home – as seen in the recently passed House budget – how an increase in indiscriminate mass deportations and family separation will be funded by deep cuts to critical programs like Medicaid and food assistance. Further, it will disrupt our economy and raise prices of groceries, health care, and housing for all of us, while making us less safe. Few know how the Trump Administration is diverting Department of Homeland Security resources away from violent criminal and fentanyl traffickers to focus on detaining and deporting law-abiding, working, taxpaying and productive members of our communities who have been in the U.S. for decades.
The “At What Cost” campaign consists of:
- A digital ad buy focused on the programs – including Medicaid and SNAP – being cut to fund Trump’s mass deportation efforts.
- A digital campaign urging Members of Congress to oppose funding indiscriminate mass deportations with cuts to these essential programs targeting the following Members of Congress: Rep. David Schweikert (AZ-1), Rep. Juan Ciscomani (AZ-6), Rep. Gabe Evans (CO-8), Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-1), Rep. Tom Barrett (MI-7), Rep. Don Bacon (NE-2), Rep. Ryan Mackenzie (PA-7), Rep. David Valadao (CA-22), Rep. Ken Calvert (CA-41), Rep. Zach Nunn (IA-3), Rep. John James (MI-10), Rep. Tom Kean Jr. (NJ-7), Rep. Mike Lawler (NY-17), Rep. Rob Bresnahan (PA-8), Rep. Jen Kiggans (VA-2), Rep. Derrick Van Orden (WI-3), Rep. Young Kim (CA-40), Rep. Tony Gonzales (TX-23), Rep. Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), Rep. Monica De La Cruz (TX-15), Rep. James Moylan (Guam), Rep. Kimberlyn King-Hinds (CNMI).
- A grassroots organizing campaign mobilizing constituents to reach out to key member offices to oppose Medicaid cuts and diversion of DHS resources to fund family separation.
According to Vanessa Cárdenas, Executive Director of America’s Voice:
“The Trump Administration’s anti-immigrant obsession is costly, dangerous, cruel, and chaotic with no regard to our values, public safety or economic concerns. Trump’s indiscriminate mass deportation and family separation policies don’t just affect immigrants and their families – they harm all Americans. In order to pay for his plans, Trump is willing to gut Medicaid, force our most vulnerable citizens out of food assistance, devastate our economy and divert DHS resources away from drug traffickers. And for what? To terrorize, detain, and deport our neighbors and friends? We need common sense policies for a functioning system that is safe, orderly and humane – the policies that Trump and his billionaire friends are advancing are not it.”
