MADISON – The Associated Builders and Contractors of Wisconsin (ABC-WI) announces plans to open an apprenticeship training center on Madison’s east side. The center was just purchased by the ABC Apprenticeship Training and Trust and is located next door to ABC-WI’s headquarters on 5330 Wall Street.
“Our apprenticeship program is growing every year, and breaking enrollment records,” said Kelly Tourdot, President. “This growth requires more space. When the building became available next door, it was clear that this was our perfect opportunity to expand.”
The ABC-WI apprenticeship program is the largest apprenticeship program in the state, with nearly 2,600 apprentices training in 2025. Apprentices are employed by one of ABC-WI’s more than 1,100 member companies, and train both on the job, and in classroom settings provided through several of Wisconsin’s Technical Colleges. The new training facility will serve as the classroom and lab spaces for apprentices in and around Dane County. This will include the more than 400 apprentices currently receiving electrical, plumbing and HVAC training in the area, with room to grow.
“We are excited to provide this space and make the training location more convenient for many of our current apprentices,” said Brandi Davis, Director of Apprenticeship. “We are also pleased to have the space we need to grow our program further and provide highly skilled workers for Wisconsin’s commercial construction industry.
The new training space is located at 2810 City View Drive in Madison. The building offers 36,000 square feet and will include both classroom and lab space, along with offices for instructors and apprenticeship managers. The renovations of the existing space will begin in early 2026, with plans to open the first classes in the fall of 2026.
