Gov. Tony Evers praised Wisconsin Dems for their victories in the spring election and pushed party activists to fight against President Donald Trump’s administration.
“The good news is every time Wisconsinites get together again, we have a new victory to celebrate,” Evers told Dem Party state convention attendees, emphasizing recent election wins, especially this April.
Evers highlighted his accomplishments in office, specifically providing more homes with high-speed internet, fixing roads, increasing housing development and using his veto power to increase school funding for 400 years.
Still, Evers said the White House policies are harming Wisconsin by cutting food aid, bringing up prices and stripping health care from thousands of residents.

“Things in Wisconsin are bleak, there’s no doubt about that, but Wisconsin Democrats are Badgers at heart,” Evers said. “We have a knack of fighting back and winning, and that’s exactly what we’re doing.”
Evers highlighted the number of lawsuits Wisconsin has joined against cuts to education, firing of federal workers and cuts to federal funding for state infrastructure.
He reminded Democrats they have to start winning elections now and can’t wait to start fighting.
“The stakes could not be higher,” Evers said. “We’re not just fighting for Wisconsin. We’re fighting for the idea that elected officials work for the people they serve, not the wealthy and well-connected.”
