WHITEFISH BAY, Wisc. — Bill Berrien, a former Navy SEAL, manufacturing CEO, and candidate for governor, blasted Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers for siding with illegal immigrants over taxpaying Wisconsin families.
While Evers has yet to decide whether he’s running for an unprecedented third term, one thing is for sure: he’s going down swinging in his fight to protect taxpayer-funded services for illegal immigrants.
Evers’ administration joined a lawsuit in federal court, brought by New York’s far-left Attorney General Letitia James, seeking to reverse the Trump Administration’s policy to end taxpayer-funded programs for illegal immigrants.
From The New York Times:
“Several federal agencies announced earlier this month that they would no longer allow unauthorized immigrants to benefit from more than a dozen health and education programs, including Head Start, an early education program for low-income children. Trump administration officials said the changes would ensure that federal benefits were reserved for American citizens.”
In a statement, Bill called on Evers to reverse course and take a moment to listen to the will of Wisconsinites:
“Yet again, Tony Evers is siding with illegal immigrants and liberal elites over the people of Wisconsin. While Wisconsinites are struggling due to the Democrats’ tax-and-spend agenda, Tony Evers is fighting to send our tax dollars to illegal immigrants. When I’m governor, we will work with President Trump to crack down on illegal immigration and wasteful spending and put an end to this madness.”
