WHITEFISH BAY, Wisc. – After the Milwaukee police union president said he is considering sending a letter to the White House requesting help from National Guard troops, Wisconsin Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Berrien released the following X post and comments to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel supporting the union and President Trump’s crime crackdown, saying “law enforcement is right and the career politicians are wrong.”

From the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
“Whitefish Bay manufacturing CEO Bill Berrien said he supported Milwaukee Police Association President Alex Ayala’s plans to ask the Trump administration to send National Guard troops to Milwaukee, calling the city “one of the most crime-ridden cities in the country.” …
… But Berrien, a former Navy SEAL, labeled Milwaukee among the most dangerous cities in the U.S. and said he “will not only crack down on crime by supporting our law enforcement, but I will work with President Trump to take drastic action when needed,” if elected.
“If state and local Democrats won’t keep our neighborhoods safe, President Trump is absolutely right to step in,” he told the Journal Sentinel in a statement. “The Milwaukee police union president says they need help. Tony Evers and the Madison Democrats say they don’t. Law enforcement is right and the career politicians are wrong.”
