JANESVILLE, Wis. — Blackhawk Technical College and Beloit College are entering into a new partnership agreement, which makes transferring from Blackhawk to Beloit College to pursue a four-year degree easier for students. A signing event will take place at Blackhawk’s Beloit-Janesville Campus on Oct. 1 to officially launch the partnership.
“This collaboration represents a major step forward in supporting our students and our region,” said Dr. Tracy Pierner, President of Blackhawk Technical College. “Bachelor’s degree attainment in Rock and Green Counties trails both the national and state average. By creating seamless pathways to these degrees, we can help close this gap, strengthen the regional talent pool, boost business competitiveness, and drive economic growth.”
In 2023, Blackhawk announced groundbreaking partnerships with three Wisconsin universities to make the path to a bachelor’s degree easier for its students. Now, Beloit College is the fourth. The new partnership makes Beloit College a Tier 1 partner with Blackhawk. For students, that means credits earned at Blackhawk will transfer through new articulation pathways to Beloit College and be fully counted.
“Expanding our University Center partnerships to include Beloit College as a fourth Tier 1 partner is a celebratory moment for both of our institutions, our students, and our community. This collaboration with Beloit College helps us deliver even more opportunities to students,” said Dr. Katie Lange, Blackhawk’s Executive Director of Student Services.
The agreement builds on existing program-to-program transfer pathways between Blackhawk and Beloit College. Students who complete associate degrees at Blackhawk in Criminal Justice Studies, Human Services Associate, or Foundations of Teacher Education can seamlessly transfer into related bachelor’s degree programs at Beloit College with junior level standing.
“I’m delighted to forge this partnership with Blackhawk Tech, which will open up all kinds of possibilities for both of our institutions,” said Beloit College President Eric Boynton.
As part of the Tier 1 University Center Partnership, Blackhawk will provide Beloit College with workspace, student access, and visibility within the University Center, housed within the heart of Blackhawk’s Beloit-Janesville Campus. Beloit College will deliver upper-level coursework, advising, and support. Both institutions will collaborate on marketing, student recruitment, and transfer support to ensure smooth transitions and clear pathways for learners.
Blackhawk’s existing partnerships with Concordia University Wisconsin, Lakeland University and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater at Rock County offer a comprehensive array of bachelor’s degree programs that grant Blackhawk students access to a four-year education using a seamless transition process.
The partnership officially launches this fall, with additional bachelor’s degree pathways expected to expand in future years based on community needs and student demand.
