MADISON, Wis. – Brad Schimel admitted a man who assaulted a ten year-old child was getting a “sweet bargain” as part of a plea deal while he was Waukesha County District Attorney. The predator was sentenced to just 18 months in prison for this crime and then, back on the streets, was convicted of sexually assaulting a child.
Judge Susan Crawford’s campaign for the Wisconsin Supreme Court is launching ‘One Time Thing,’ a new ad that calls out Brad Schimel for this disturbing “bargain” that put a predator back on the streets.
Brad Schimel has long failed to protect our communities. He gave a plea deal to a man caught with thousands of files of child pornography, but only after getting more than $5,000 from the predator’s lawyer. Schimel gave a light sentence to a domestic abuser who pressed a gun into his victim’s neck and threatened to shoot her if she called the police — and then later charged with more abuse charges after Schimel let him walk. And Schimel let more than 6,000 rape kits sit untested for over two yearswhile rapists roamed our streets.
The new advertisement is part of an ongoing statewide seven-figure broadcast and cable buy.

VO: It was just a “one time thing.”
That’s what Brad Schimel said when he gave a “sweet bargain” to a man who sexually assaulted a ten year-old girl.
The sex predator served just 18 months in prison for his crime and got out.
A few weeks ago, he was convicted of sexually assaulting a child again.
And that was just one time Brad Schimel let a sex predator loose on our kids.
So why would we ever give him another chance?
Brad Schimel. Too extreme for the Supreme Court.
