WISCONSIN – Last week, the Democracy Defense Project – Wisconsin (DDP) joined the Wisconsin Institute of Public Policy and Service (WIPPS) and the Wisconsin Alliance for Civic Trust (WisAct) for a lunch and learn covering how bipartisan organizations and their messages promote healthier, less volatile conversations, especially through the holiday season.

The conversation featuring Rep. Scott Klug and Mike Tate from the Democracy Defense Project as well as Michael Ford from WisACT centered around ways to have healthy political conversations with those sharing different political opinions. “Healthy disagreement is about an idea, not about the other person’s humanity,” said former Democratic Party of Wisconsin chair Mike Tate in the conversation when posed the question about what healthy disagreement looks like. Rep. Klug added later “[young people] still want to get involved but they’re so frustrated with the two parties and this sense of inability to cooperate that they are looking for alternatives.”
