Despite repeatedly promising he’d oppose cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, Derrick Van Orden cast the deciding vote last week to slash both programs in order to give tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy at the expense of his constituents.
Wisconsinites are noticing that Van Orden “has an interesting way of doing one thing and then gaslighting [them] about his actions,” raising the question: “How can [voters] believe anything he says” after he lied to them for months?

- House Rep. Derrick Van Orden (WI CD-03) has an interesting way of doing one thing and then gaslighting us about his actions.
- Last week, he voted for the GOP budget which included $200 billion in cuts to SNAP. Yet, he put in a letter to the House Ag Committee, “I write today in strong opposition to the reckless proposals under consideration that would impose up to 25% of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) costs on state governments.”
- Crocodile tears.
- Keep in mind, the cuts – he voted for – to services for Wisconsin’s vulnerable citizens are to blow open the doors for tax cuts for his overlords. You know them, the extremely powerful and wealthy who would still be fine without the tax cuts.
- How can we believe anything he says when he plays both sides against each other? You know who will lose, right? Children, the elderly, and farmers who supply products for SNAP to name a few.
