DLGA Chair Lt. Governor Austin Davis, DLGA Vice Chair Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll, Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman, Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado, Secretary Adrian Fontes, Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, Lt. Governor Kyle Evans Gay, Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist, Lt. Governor Denny Heck, Lt. Governor Rachel Hunt, Lt. Governor Sylvia Luke, Lt. Governor Sabina Matos, Lt. Governor Aruna Miller, Lt. Governor Howie Morales, Lt. Governor Dianne Primavera, Lt. Governor David Toland, Secretary Tobias Read, Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez, Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, and Lt. Governor Tahesha Way released the following statement:
“We are deeply disturbed by the chaos unfolding in Los Angeles caused by President Trump’s reckless abuse of power. President Trump is fanning the flames of unrest, using our communities as political battlegrounds for political retribution, only to project force and fear. Deploying federal troops and threatening military action in our neighborhoods is not only unconstitutional, it’s profoundly dangerous.
“Lt. Governor Kounalakis has made it clear that she and Governor Newsom will not stand for this abuse of power by the federal government. As lieutenant governors, we stand united with Lt. Governor Kounalakis and Governor Newsom. The streets of Los Angeles – or any of our communities – should not be a stage for Trump’s political posturing. We stand united against this manufactured crisis, and we will defend the rights to peaceful protest and organize, without federal interference or intimidation.”
