Kit Contains Photos And B-Roll

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) encourages the media to help promote bat awareness and International Bat Week using its media toolkit. Please credit all assets to Wisconsin DNR.

The toolkit includes photos and b-roll footage of several species of bats, as well some of the techniques staff and volunteers are using to help protect them.

Bats are extremely important members of our natural world. They are vital to many ecosystems and provide significant positive environmental, economic and public health benefits.

Of the eight bat species found in Wisconsin, four are state-threatened species – the big brown bat, little brown bat, northern long-eared bat (also federally endangered) and tricolored bat. Another, the silver-haired bat, is of special concern, meaning the population is declining and in need of conservation action.

Additional information is available in this previous news release and on the DNR’s Bat webpage.
