The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) is disappointed to announce that two Veteran Housing and Recovery Program (VHRP) locations will be closing. The 2023-2025 State Budget, as passed by the legislature, does not provide enough funds for continued operation of all three VHRP sites, which serve military veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
The VHRP locations in Chippewa Falls and Green Bay will close by September 30th of this year, while the remaining location in Union Grove will remain open for male and female veterans. July 14th is the last day applications are being reviewed at the Chippewa Falls and Green Bay locations. Applications will continue to be accepted for Union Grove.
Veterans currently residing at the Chippewa Falls and Green Bay facilities will be offered alternative placement options and will continue to receive assistance through supportive services.
WDVA would like to extend gratitude to the employees of Lutheran Social Services who staffed the two locations for their hard work and dedication to Wisconsin veterans.
