On March 15, the Driftless Area Voters for Wisconsin (DAVFW) will host a local subject matter expert who will explain the intricacies of immigration law and what the rights are for those concerned about deportation. Topics to be covered include clarification of the definitions of refugee, asylum seeker, undocumented immigrant, A-Number, and green card. The speaker will also provide guidance on how to respond if ICE is at your door and what a person’s due process rights are if they are charged with removal from the United States. There will be time for questions and answers from the audience.
DAVFW isa recently formed group composed of members from Buffalo, Pepin, Pierce, St. Croix, and Trempealeau Counties.They organized to sponsor speakers for monthly presentations on topics of local interest within their communities.
The event will be held at the Nelson Community Center and begin at 1pm. Doors will open at 12:30pm.
