[Wisconsin] – Educated We Stand, the national, non-partisan organization dedicated to safeguarding the integrity of public education, has announced its endorsements for the upcoming Wisconsin school board elections on April 1st.
Wisconsin is a critical battleground in the fight against a far-right takeover of our public schools. In addition to having one of the most expansive private school voucher programs in the country, conservative groups have aggressively targeted local school board races across the state to push book bans, anti-LGBTQ policies, and partisan ideology into classrooms. These efforts threaten the foundational principles of public education, and it is more important than ever to support candidates who will stand up for inclusive, evidence-based learning.
Jennifer Jenkins, the founder and chair of Educated We Stand, said: “I am proud to support a slate of candidates who understand that public schools are the bedrock of our democracy. These endorsements reflect our commitment to electing leaders who will defend unbiased education, resist extremist attempts to undermine curriculum standards, and ensure every child—regardless of background—has the chance to thrive in a safe, high-quality classroom rooted in facts, not fear.”
The endorsed candidates include:
- Carl Bryan for Kenosha Unified School Board, at-large
- Merideth Garcia for La Crosse School Board, at-large
- Molly Fuchs for La Crosse School Board, at-large
- Marne Mercer for Stevens Point School Board, at-large
- Ali Muldrow for Madison Metropolitan School Board, Seat 4
- Sharon Kiernan for Germantown School Board, Seat 4
- Jill Underly for State Superintendent
Educated We Stand’s mission is to limit the influence of far-right extremists and maintain evidence-based learning environments that foster critical thinking and prepare students to be engaged, informed citizens. For more information, visit www.educatedwestand.com.
