MADISON, Wis. – Family Friendly Wisconsin released the following statement today following Governor Tony Evers’ 2025 State of the State Address in which he reinforced his commitment to lowering costs and making care more affordable for working families.
Brita Olsen, Family Friendly Wisconsin State Director:
“Gov. Evers has always been a strong advocate for working families, and as we heard last night, his commitment has not wavered. In his 2025 State of the State Address, the governor emphasized the need to bring down costs for families, including for essential expenses like child care and prescription drugs.
“Thanks to a bipartisan bill signed into law by Gov. Evers last year to expand the dependent and child tax credit, parents and families will start to feel extra breathing room in their budgets this year. On average, a Wisconsinite will see an average benefit of $650.
“While this is a step in the right direction toward lowering costs, there is more to be done to make raising a family and participating in our economy feasible for all Wisconsinites. Family Friendly Wisconsin urges legislators on both sides of the aisle to work together to bring down costs for families by investing in child care, elder care, affordable health care, and paid family and medical leave.”
