MADISON, Wis. – Family Friendly Wisconsin released the following statement following the reintroduction of paid leave legislation by Sen. LaTonya Johnson and Reps. Francesca Hong and Kalan Haywood on Tuesday.
Brita Olsen, Family Friendly Wisconsin State Director:
“At some point in our lives, we will all need to take time to care for ourselves or a loved one, and at a time when costs are skyrocketing, the last thing families should be worried about is whether or not they will receive their next paycheck. Unfortunately, this worry is all too common for Wisconsinites – 77% of workers do not have access to paid leave through their employer.
“That’s why the reintroduction of comprehensive paid family and medical leave legislation is so important. Paid leave ensures no one has to choose between their job and taking care of themselves or loved ones.
“We are grateful for the leadership of Democrats like Sen. Johnson and Reps. Hong and Haywood who have made clear to Wisconsinites that all Badger State workers have earned this security. We encourage Republicans to come to the table to pass paid leave for Wisconsin workers.”
